Arnold Schwarzenegger had a baby roughly 14 years ago. According to the LA times, the mother worked for the family for twenty years, retired and received a severance package.
(this makes perfect sense that he would then decide to run for political office somwhere in there, since having a mistress slash child is part of the prerequisites, it seems!)
Wife Maria Shriver thought the father was the woman’s husband for most of that time, and only found out recently. Shriver and Schwarzenegger announced their separation earlier this month.
Schwarzenegger told the Los Angeles Times:
“After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”
Estranged wife Maria has not commented, but I think Americans, if asked for a comment (not that we need to be asked) might offer a collective “oh, for crying out loud, really?’
